JS man charged with stealing bank card
JERSEY SHORE - A borough man faces charges after allegedly stealing another man's bank card, using it to make two transactions, and then returning the card, according to police.
Gregory A Lowell II, 19, of 1078 Fifth Ave., Apt. 201, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of access device fraud and theft.
According to court records, Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police were contacted by Cody McClosky on Aug. 29. McClosky reported he recently had checked his bank balance and noticed two unauthorized transactions, which had caused the account to become overdrawn, according to court records.
The purchases were made on Aug. 29 at a gas station along Allegheny Street in Jersey Shore.
Police contacted the business and retrieved copies of the receipts from the unauthorized purchases - one for $30 of gasoline and another, totaling $10.36, for motor oil and cigarettes, according to court records.
Police also reviewed surveillance footage that showed a male, later identified as Lowell, making the purchases.
Police later interviewed Lowell, who admitted he had taken the card, used it for two transactions at the gas station, and returned it.
According to police, Lowell confessed that he did not have permission from McClosky to use the bank card.
Lowell was arraigned before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley. He is out on $1,500 bail.
Lowell will face a preliminary hearing Sept. 19 before Lepley.
