Robert Hayes Gunsallus Sr., 86, of 140 Lingle St., Blanchard, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Lock Haven on Feb. 23, 1926, the son of the late Wesley and Tillie M. Spangler Gunsallus.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, serving during World War II.

On Feb. 14, 1950 in Baltimore, Md., he married the former Clara B. Smith, who survives in Blanchard.
He was employed at Piper Aircraft Corporation as a sheet metal worker for 35 years, retiring when Piper Aircraft closed.
Robert was a member of Hillview Wesleyan Church.
He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He enjoyed helping friends assemble personal airplanes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, John Sewalt of Lock Haven, Robert (Sherrie) Gunsallus Jr. of Mill Hall, Wesley C. (Ruth Ann) Gunsallus of Texas, Scott Gunsallus Sr. of Flemington and William F. Gunsallus Sr. of Mill Hall; a daughter, Kay L. (Ken) King of McElhattan; a brother, James A. Gunsallus of Castanea; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Arlington and Russell, and two sisters, Violet Allen and Garnetta Packer.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at noon at Hillview Wesleyan Church, 1200 W. Fourth St., Flemington, with Rev. Donald Grant officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Blanchard Liberty Baptist Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
