Driver sleeps, vehicle keeps going
MILL HALL - Minor injuries occurred in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on Hogan Boulevard in Bald Eagle Township, Tpr. Timothy Wright of the state police at Lamar said.
Police said James R. Lukehart, 69, of Mill Hall was driving a 2010 Nissan Frontier and had stopped at a red light at the intersection with Pennsylvania Avenue, but was passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle.
The vehicle crossed both lanes of Hogan Boulevard before running into the guard rail and becoming stuck with the rear wheels still spinning.
While witnesses were attempting to get in the locked vehicle to turn the car off due to an apparent medical emergency, the Nissan dislodged itself and crashed into a 2006 Ford F-350 Super-Duty driven by Henry Sorgen, 23, of Colfax, N.C., who was stopped at a red light in the northbound lane.
Lukehart's vehicle continued on to crash into a 2010 Ford F-550 Super Duty pickup driven by Scott M. Bechdel, 49, of Beech Creek.
At about that time, citizens were able to break the driver-side window of the Nissan and remove the driver, ending the incident.
Lukehart was taken into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He declined treatment for a head laceration. Bechdel also received a minor injury.
Police were assisted at the scene by members of Mill Hall Fire Company and Goodwill Ambulance Service of Flemington.
Two handguns stolen
SOUTH RENOVO - Charles Goodling of Pennsylvania Avenue reported a theft of two handguns from his home between Nov. 21 and 28, Tpr. Timothy t. Eiler of the state police at Lamar said in a release issued Sunday.
The investigation is continuing and anybody with information should call state police at 570-726-6000.
WOOLRICH - Bruce Lester Chesson Jr., 22, of Williamsport was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated Thursday, Tpr. Timothy Wright of the state police at Lamar said.
Police said Chesson was stopped for a traffic violation and was found by the trooper to be under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred about 12:06 a.m. on Route 150 in Pine Creek Township, police said.
Rig jackknifes on I-80
LOGANTON - A 2000 Freightliner Classic jackknifed on Interstate 80 in Greene Township, Tuesday morning, Tpr. Stephen Dunkle of the state police said in a release Sunday.
Police said Milos Paunovic, 26, of LaGrange, Ill., was driving in the left lane and eastbound when his rig skidded out of control, left the road and crashed into an embankment with the rear of the trailer. The truck followed the path of the trailer, police said.
LOGANTON - A two-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 80 in Greene Township, Tuesday afternoon, Tpr. Michael Flook of the state police at Lamar said in a release Sunday.
Police said James Hilbert, 70, of Philadelphia was driving at about 55 miles per hour and attempted to change lanes to pass another vehicle, when his 2006 Dodge Durango skidded south, left the road and crashed into a guide rail before skidding counterclockwise onto the road where the Durango was struck by a 2012 Hyundai Elantra driven by Jessica Pruncnal, 49, of New York, N.Y.
There were no injuries sustained by the occupants of the vehicles.
Vehicles collide on I-80
LOGANTON - W. Cornejo-Lack, 45, of Johnston, N.Y., crashed his 2005 Freightliner on Interstate 80 in Greene Township early Tuesday, Tpr. Michael Flook said in a release Friday.
Police said a GMC Terrain owned by Mary A. Frantz, 62, of Lock Haven, was parked on the south side of the road facing east, and Frantz was calling to report a crash when the tractor-trailer truck's real trailer skidded on the snow-covered road and struck the auto as it passed by.
No injuries were reported.
CASTANEA - Sarah E. Wirth, 19, of Cogan Station crashed her 2000 Nissan Altima on Route 220 in Castanea Township, Tuesday afternoon, Tpr. David Kirkendall of the state police at Lamar said in a release Sunday.
SUV crashes into guardrail
MILL HALL - Lisa A. Jones, 40, of Hollidaysburg crashed her 1999 Pontiac Montana on Route 220 in Mill Hall Tuesday afternoon, Tpr. David Kirkendall of the state police at Lamar said in a release Tuesday.
Police said Jones and Daniel R. Alsdorf, 42, of Cochranton, driving a 2006 Peterbilt, were both driving north with Jones attempting to pass Alsdorf, when Jones lost control. Her SUV glanced off the rig's wheels, left the road and came to rest facing south against the guardrail and in the medial strip.
MILL HALL - A rear-end crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on Route 220 in Mill Hall, Tpr. David Kirkendall of the state police at Lamar said in a release Sunday.
Police said James Guanciale, 20, of Baldwinsville, N.Y. was driving north and following a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Kathryn Tompkins, 20, of Lamar, when his 1996 Toyota Camry crashed into the rear of the 1998 SUV.
Both drivers managed to stop their vehicles along the right berm, and there were no injuries, police said.
