Charles L. Carpenter, 68, of Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born March 3, 1945 in Lock Haven, he was a son to the late William L. and Frieda (Smith) Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Sherry M Ergott, whom were united in marriage Aug. 5, 1966 in the Swissdale United Methodist Church. His brother, Harold Carpenter, also preceded him in death.

Charlie was a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Lucas Trucking, formerly served on the Jersey Shore Borough Council and was a Pennsylvania State Constable. Earlier in his life he was a meat cutter at the A & P Store.
He was a member of the Labelle-Vallee Lodge #232F.&A.M., Jersey Shore. He enjoyed wood working, hunting, fishing, magic and earlier in his life enjoyed doing taxidermy. Most of all he loved vacationing and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his daughters, Karen A. (Anthony) Crago of Cogan Station and Krista L. (Ken) Stover of Jersey Shore; three grandchildren, Kiara (Jason), Kiann and Kenzi; two great grandchildren, Karysa and Jasey; and two sisters, Carol (Jim) Lucas of Jersey Shore and Ruth (Don) McClarin of Montoursville.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Jersey Shore Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 at Welker Funeral Home.
