LAMAR -- State police at Lamar and the Clinton County coroner are continuing an investigation into the deaths of two pedestrian who were struck by a tractor-trailer truck early Thursday morning on Interstate 80, Tpr. Benjamin J. Campana said.
The two males were hit by the vehicle at about 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes near the Lamar entrance ramp, Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna said.
Hanna pronounced the men dead at the scene
Police identified the victims David Flores, 29, of Baltimore, Md. and Jesus Chazea, unknown age and address.
Carlos Freitas-Diaz, 41, of Arlington, N..J., was driving 2003 Freight liner west at about 65 miles per hour, police said, when his rig struck both pedestrians who were in the road near Exit 173.
Freitas-Diaz was not hurt in the crash, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, police said.

State police at Lamar are continuing an investigation into a fatal accident just before 3 a.m. today in which two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle and killed on Interstate 80 in Porter Township, Clinton County.
Police said both men were pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County coroner.
One of the victims was identified by police as a 29 year-old man from Baltimore, Md. The age and address of the other victim was not known, police said.
The pedestrians were in the roadway on I-80 west near Exit 173 when they were hit by a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon GT operated by Carlos Freitas-Diaz, 41, ofd Arlington, N.J., police said. The driver was not hurt, police said.
