LOCK HAVEN - Sunny skies, warm weather and smiling faces greeted more than 4,000 guests to the 2008 Clinton County Economic Partnership EXPO Wednesday. "Call it a homecoming," said EXPO Chairman Wade Keiffer at the opening ceremonies.

Keiffer said it was a homecoming for not only the exhibitors who have come for the past 23 years, but also for those who make the EXPO so successful.

Sewer project now tackles residents' lines

MILL HALL - After $3 million, much planning and debate, more than a little sweat - even a few tears of frustration - the borough has a sewer system to make anyone proud.

The work it entailed, even with professional engineering services and contractors on board, has been enough to amount to a second job for Sewer Committee members and other municipal leaders.

Suburban Water plans to beef up its lines

MILL HALL - While the borough is beginning to see the light at the end of its expensive sewer project tunnel, Suburban Water Authority is turning to PennVEST for a loan to upgrade its system.

The authority wants to run a 16-inch line from Castanea up the railroad tracks to Draketown Road and build a pumping station there, according to Vince Shay Jr.

Inmates who commit crimes in prison will be charged

McELHATTAN Clinton County officials are warning inmates at the prison they will be charged if they commit crimes in the facility.

District Attorney Mike Salisbury reported at Wednesday's Prison Board meeting that Justin Shady, 24, has been charged with institutional vandalism for unlawfully setting off the sprinkler system in the Wayne Township facility last Halloween.

Life in prison for convicted murderer

WILLIAMSPORT - It took a Lycoming County jury just three hours Wednesday to convict a South Williamsport man of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

After the verdict was announced, Javier S. Cruz-Echevarria, 21, of 1450 Kaiser Ave., was sentenced by Judge Nancy L. Butts to life in state prison without the possibility of parole.
