Central Mountain’s, Penn State’s underdog to topdog Von Walker out for season

Von Walker

Central Mountain graduate Von Walker is out for the season, according to the weekly game notes re-leased Mon–day by the school.

This also ends his playing career, after he arrived as a walk-on in 2013 to earn immediate playing time before a scholarship and leadership role.

Walker, a reserve linebacker and special teams mainstay, as was injured Saturday at Rutgers. It looked like a left knee injury when he went down on punt coverage late in the first half.

He will not play for just the third time in his ca-reer and the first time since the Indiana game in 2014, ending a streak of 28 consecutive games played. His seven special teams tackles this year are second on the team.

Walker is one of eight two-time captains in school history. He’s scheduled to be one of 17 seniors honored prior to Saturday’s game.
