LHU Cross Country set for National Tournament

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 23 Lock Haven University men’s cross country team is ready for the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championships in Saint Leo, Florida.

The men’s 10K race is set to go off on Saturday, November 19 at 8:30 a.m.

This is the seventh straight trip and 12th in the past 14 years for LHU at the NCAA championships.

The Haven will toe the line with 31 other teams and 24 individuals all who are looking to claim a National Championship.

LHU will return four runners from last year’s NCAA National Championship team including Jacob Fetterman, Jereamy Hall, Addison Monroe, and Sean Weidner. Monroe was the individual champion at both the PSAC and Atlantic Regional Championships.

Patrick Miller, Sam Signor, Jacob Toczko, and Luke Vanderhoff will all be making their National Championship debut for the Bald Eagles.

“This is one of the youngest teams I’ve ever taken to nationals, but I wouldn’t count them out,” said head coach Aaron Russell. “We have four guys who raced their first 10km at regionals so there was a bit of apprehension about it.  Having one under their belts, however, I think they are much more relaxed and confident going into the NCAA race.”
