RENOVO – Last week, Coach Carl Gentzyel and the Lady Bucks moved to 3-5 on the season following a road win. With a two game home stand on Saturday hosting Muncy and last night against Galeton had fans hoping for a season on the rise.

Instead, the Lady Bucks have suffered a pair of turnover riddled games combined with few defensive rebounds and have slid to 3-7.

Last night Galeton would hit a three point shot just 14 seconds into the game and never looked back, cruising to a 62-21 win following a 16-3 first quarter that set the tone of the game.

When pressured the Lady Bucks look to long passes that more often than not get picked off by defenders. On this night Bucktail committed 23 turnovers.

“I’m not sure what gets into our heads, we just end up trying to pass through two and even three defenders and more often than not the play ends up going to the other end of the court” said coach Gentzyel following the game.

The Lady Bucks are in a funk trying to discover what works and their coach is disappointed that fundamentals are being lost in the fray.

“It’s everything right now, turnovers, letting other teams get 2-3 extra shots, us being one and done on our end, we’re just not executing right now” he said of his team’s state. “We’re just going to keep working on the basics, box out, shooting, rebounding, free throws; we need to improve on all levels”.

Bucktail trailed by as many as forty points at a one point in the fourth quarter down 53-13. They missed 44 shots while making just ten.

Still, they played hard to the end scoring more points in the fourth than they did in any other quarter. Improvements will have to come quick for the Lady Bucks who will be at St. John Neumann on Wednesday before hosting perennial power Sullivan County on Saturday, January 14.
