Monroe, Miles set for 2017 NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – Junior Addison Monroe (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) and senior Rahjeir Miles-Eubanks (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) of the Lock Haven University men’s outdoor track & field team have been selected to compete at the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championships, in their respective events.

The 2017 NCAA Division II Championships are set for Thursday, May 25 to Saturday, May 27 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Monroe will compete in the 10,000-meter race which is scheduled for Thursday, May 25 at 9:35 p.m. He enters the race seeded 11th overall.

Monroe is coming off a strong performance at the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships where he was the individual champion in the 5,000-meter run. He led from wire-to-wire finishing in a time of 14:41.04 which was over seven seconds ahead of second place and 20 seconds ahead of third.

Miles-Eubanks will compete in the javelin which is scheduled for Saturday, May 27 at 2:25 p.m. He enters the event seeded 18th overall.

Miles-Eubanks placed seventh overall at the PSAC Outdoor Championships but it was his performance at the Gator Invitational that helped punch his ticket to the NCAA Championship. At the Gator Invitational he launched a huge season best mark of 210-01 feet to win.

The top eight finishers in each event will earn All-American honors.

Championship Experience

This will be Monroe’s first track & field national championship, however he has experience in competing at the national level as he is a two-time cross country national participant. This past fall Monroe was an All-American, as he placed 32nd.

This will mark the third trip for Miles-Eubanks to the outdoor national championships in the javelin. As a freshman he placed 12th and as a sophomore he placed 15th. Miles-Eubanks also got the privilege to compete at the USATF junior championships as a freshman for Lock Haven University.
