Pickett homers, Crosscutters fall 4-2

WILLIAMSPORT – Greg Pickett’s 8th inning solo shot was not enough, as the Crosscutters fell 4-2 to the Black Bears, ending their five-game winning streak.

Pickett’s home run was his 2nd of the season and his first opposite field home run of the year. The Cutters 1st basemen finished the night 2 for 4 with a homer and a RBI.

Gregori Rivero finished the afternoon 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles, reaching base three times in total. He was robbed of an RBI on a ground rule double in the 2nd inning, forcing Jake Scheiner to stop at 3rd base. Rivero now has four doubles on the season.

Jake Scheiner recorded his third multi-hit game, finishing 2 for 3 with a pair of singles in his first two at bats.

The Crosscutters suffered their first loss in a week, falling to the Doubledays last Sunday afternoon in Auburn. The Cutters finished the night 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base.

Gustavo Armas suffered his third loss of the season, allowing three runs, two earned over six innings of work. Armas surrendered five hits while allowing one walk and striking out five in the losing effort.
