LHU Wrestling announces early signees, Bald Eagles ink four

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University wrestling team has announced that four student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period, committing to further their athletic and academic careers at LHU.

LHU head coach Scott Moore couldn’t be more excited with the signing of Isaac Reid, Luke McGonigal, Dalton, Rohrbaugh and Garrett Rigg, four well decorated Pennsylvania wrestlers.

“We are excited to welcome these four young men into our program. They are all very accomplished and committed to being successful at the next level, both in wrestling and academics,” said Moore. “Each of them brings a different style and special quality to our program. Their attitude toward learning and developing will help them make a quick transition and immediate impact on our future. Pennsylvania wrestling is very talented and deep, and these young men represent some of the best in the state. We look forward to welcoming their family, friends and supporters into our rich tradition and history here at Lock Haven.”

Isaac Reid

“Isaac is the best heavyweight in the state of Pennsylvania and possesses the right mindset and attitude to be successful at the next level,” said Moore. “He competes year round and is always looking to improve and challenge himself. He comes from a family of athletes and understands the commitment of Division I wrestling. We are excited about his fit in our program and as our future heavyweight, and team leader.”

Luke McGonigal

Frenchville, Pa./Clearfield High School

Projected weight class, 174/184

Major: Health Science

National rankings: InterMat, #19; Flo, #10; The Open Mat, #12

-2017 PIAA AAA runner-up

-3X state qualifier

-Career record: 100-20

“Luke is a well-rounded competitor who will transition to the college wrestling style well,” said Moore. “He is a committed student-athlete who excels academically and is focused on achieving high levels of success on, and off the mats. He brings a strong wrestling resume and a wealth of local support to Lock Haven.”

Dalton Rohrbaugh

Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove High School

Projected weight class, 125/133

Major: Health and Physical Education

-2016 PIAA AAA third place

-3X state qualifier

-Career record: 107-13

“Dalton is very committed and focused on being successful at the next level,” said Moore. “He trains year round and has the skillset to make a quick transition to college. Dalton is a great scrambler and explosive on his feet. He is poised to make a run at a state title this season.”

Garrett Rigg

Clarence, Pa./Bald Eagle Area High School

Projected weight class, 149/157

Major: Health Science

-PIAA state qualifier

-Northwest regional champion

-Career record: 82-26

“Garrett is a tough, hard-nosed athlete who will continue to improve and push the guys around him,” said Moore. “He brings a lot of local support to the program and has a ton of potential.”
