LOCK HAVEN – Freshman Josiah Kline (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) of the Lock Haven University wrestling team has been named the Eastern Wrestling (EWL) Athlete of the Week.

The freshman 125-pounder went 3-0 on the way to an individual title at Sunday’s (Nov. 26) Mat-Town Open. Kline opened the day with a pin after he needed just 26 seconds to pin Shane Metzler (Rutgers, UNA). He moved to 2-0 on the day and earned a spot in the finals after majoring Geo Barzona of Bucknell (UNA), 12-1. In the finals, Kline downed Dominic LaJoie (FLWC), 9-3 in a dominating effort.

The 3-0 tournament run moved Kline to 8-4 on the season.

Kline became the third Bald Eagle wrestler in the last four weeks to take home EWL weekly honors.

Josiah Kline’s title at 125 pounds headlined another solid tournament showing for the Bald Eagles. Jonathan Ross and Jared Siegrist placed second at 157 and 174 pounds, respectively, rounding out a strong day for The Haven.

Kline and LHU will return to action on Friday, December 1 at 7 p.m. when they host No. 11 Rutgers in dual action. The dual will mark the first dual of the 2017-18 season for Lock Haven. The Bald Eagles are calling for a WHITE OUT and the match is also LHU’s Veterans Appreciation match. All veterans get in for free.
