LHU returns to national rankings, crack top-25 for first time in 15 years

MANHEIM – The Lock Haven University Bald Eagleswrestling team has returned to the national rankings as the Bald Eagles check in at No. 24 in this week’s (Tues, Dec. 5) USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches poll.

The Lock Haven University Bald Eagles are coming off their upset-win over Rutgers University last Friday and it marks the first time in 15 years that Lock Haven has cracked the top-25 in the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches poll. The last time LHU found itself in the rankings was during the 2002-03 season. On November 24, 2002, the Bald Eagles were ranked No. 24.

In today’s latest InterMat Dual Team rankings, Lock Haven was ranked No. 18. Three LHU wrestlers will also listed in the latest individual InterMat rankings. Two-time NCAA Division I qualifier Ronnie Perry is ranked No. 13 at 149, undefeated Chance Marsteller is listed No. 8 at 165 and Thomas Haines, an NCAA qualifier last season, is ranked No. 13 at 285.

WIN Magazine ranked Lock Haven at No. 23 in this week’s Dual Team Rankings and had the Bald Eagles at No. 28 (tie) in the Tournament Power Index.

Perry, Marsteller and Haines were also all listed in the latest FloWrestling rankings, also released today. Perry was ranked No. 15, Marsteller No. 11 and Haines No. 10. All three were ranked this week by Amateur Wrestling News as well (Perry, #18; Marsteller, No. 10 & Haines, No. 16).
