Ronnie Perry named PSAC Wrestler of the Week

LOCK HAVEN – Ronnie Perry (Christiana, Pa./Solanco) of the Lock Haven University wrestling team has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week for his big win on Friday that helped spark the Bald Eagles to an upset of nationally-ranked Rutgers.

No win was bigger in LHU’s upset of No. 11 Rutgers Friday (Dec. 1) night than Perry’s at 149 pounds. Perry, ranked No. 15, dominated No. 13 Eleazar DeLuca.

It was a workmanlike effort from Perry, who won 5-1 in the only bout of the dual that featured two nationally-ranked wrestlers. Perry racked up 1:35 of riding time and the win tied the dual 7-7, which help pave the way for the upset-victory as both teams won five bouts. It marked Lock Haven’s first upset of a top-25 team in nearly 12 years. DeLuca entered the match undefeated as Perry improved to 6-1 on the season with the victory.
