THE NEXT LEVEL: STUDENT-ATHLETES ON CAMPUS: Student-Athlete in the Spotlight: Ethan Dale

Ethan is the son of David and Patrice Dale of Lock Haven. The 2016 Central Mountain High School graduate is currently a sophomore on the Men’s Swimming team at Alfred State University. Ethan is majoring in Architectural Technology. He says that what he most enjoys about swimming is that, “It teaches me to work hard but have fun while doing it.” Ethan claims that his goal is to “win conference” and says the biggest challenge of being a collegiate athlete is “time management.” On Saturday, while swimming against Cabrini College, Ethan won the 400 IM with a time of 4:34:62. Additionally, he captured 2nd place finishes in the 100 Breast and the 200 Breast.

Brody Baker: 2017 Central Mountain High School graduate and current freshman on the Elizabethtown College Men’s Basketball team. Brody made an appearance in Elizabethtown’s loss at Juniata on Wednesday, but did not play in a loss to the University of Scranton at home on Saturday. Elizabethtown’s record dropped to 4-14 on the season with the two losses.

Maria Morgan: 2015 Bucktail High School graduate and current junior on the St. Vincent College Women’s Basketball team. On Wednesday in a 69-58 win over Washington and Jefferson, Maria scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds in 27 minutes of play. On Saturday as SVC defeated Geneva College by an 89-36 score, she had 17 points and three assists in 19 minutes of play. She connected on five three-point shots in that contest.

Michael Panczyszyn: 2015 Jersey Shore High School graduate and current junior on the Lycoming College Men’s Swimming team. Competing against Lebanon Valley College on Sunday, Michael was first in the Medley Relay with a time of 1:49:73 and 3rd in both the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Butterfly.

Erin Reese: 2016 Central Mountain High School graduate and sophomore runner on the Susquehanna University Indoor Track team. Competing on Friday at the 20th annual Bison Open at Bucknell University, Erin placed 12th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:53:13.

Chad Reese: Central Mountain High School/Bucknell Bison Wrestling. Wrestling at 197 pounds for the Bison on Saturday, Chad was defeated by his opponent from the University of Penn by a 17-5 score as the Bison dropped the dual to the Quakers by a score of 24-14. Then in a match later in the day against Columbia, Chad fell by a 6-1 score as the Bison dropped the dual, 22-17.

Richie Thompson: 2017 Central Mountain High School graduate/Wilkes University Wrestling. Wrestling on Sunday against Washington and Jefferson College as well as SUNY Oneonta, Richie dropped both of his matches. Wilkes split the two matches defeating W and J while falling to SUNY Oneonta.

Geo Barzona: 2017 Central Mountain High School graduate/Bucknell wrestling. Wrestling at 125 pounds, Geo picked up his first career dual meet win on Saturday as he defeated his opponent from Columbia by a 6-2 score. Earlier in the day, he received a forfeit in the dual against the University of Penn. Bucknell dropped both duals.

Bryce Mansfield: 2017 Central Mountain High School graduate and current Physical Therapy major at Misericordia University. Bryce is a hurdler on the track team, but has been rehabbing from an ACL injury suffered during his senior year in high school.

Quinn McCluskey: 2017 graduate of CMHS and a freshman on the Women’s Tennis team at East Stroudsburg University. ESU will begin their spring season with a Spring Break Tournament in Hilton Head, S.C., from March 10 to March 17, 2018. Quinn played at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions and the No. 3 doubles position during the Fall season.

Riley Green: 2016 Central Mountain High School graduate and sophomore runner on the Earlham College (IN) Track & Field Team. Competing on Saturday at the Jessica Stark Invitational in Columbus, OH, Riley set a personal record in the mile with a time of 4:58:30. That time was good for 4th on the team.
