Bald Eagles look to soar at PSAC T&F Championships

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven University women’s indoor track & field team is set to compete at the 2017-18 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Championships hosted by Edinboro University.

The two-day meet starts on Saturday February 24 at 11:00 a.m.

Co-head coach Aaron Russell is very excited to see how the team will perform at the championship, as The Haven improved in nearly every meet. In all 14 student-athletes will compete in 10 different events during the two-day meet.

The Lock Haven school record book has been re-written this season. Both Rashana Tompkins (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Kayla Brathwaite (Arouca, Trinidad & Tobago/Bishop Anstey East) shattered records for the Bald Eagles.

For Tompkins she broke the 60-meter hurdle record twice. In the season opening meet at the Bucknell Bison Opener on December 2, 2017 she sped to a time of 9.09 to break the record (9.17) which was held since 2005. Following that performance she broke her own record at the Bison Open on January 27, 2018 when she lowered the time to 9.04.

Last week (Feb. 17) at the Deneault Invite hosted by Cornell Brathwaite broke the eight year old 300-meter record when she finished in a time of 43.06 which was .06 seconds ahead of the record.
