ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Central Mountain High School swimmer Rachel Marek is The Lock Haven Express Athlete of the Week.

Marek, a district qualifier, led CM to wins over Bellefonte and Penns Valley on Thursday. CM took home another victory with a first-place finish in the Williamsport Coaches Invitational on Saturday. It was the Wildcats’ first ever appearance in the meet, and they upset rival Jersey Shore in the process.

“It’s a really exciting winning over the big teams, because I know that everyone on the team puts in a lot of effort to reach our goals like this,” Marek said.

Her victory in the 200-yard Individual Medley boosted Central Mountain toward a team win at the Invitational. She also took home second in the 100 breaststroke.

“It’s really exciting getting first at an Invitational,” Marek said. “But I think overall everyone did really well at the meet.”

Marek also signed her letter-of-intent last week to continue her swimming career at Cabrini University.

HONORABLE MENTION

CM basketball player Collin Jones has been named an honorable mention due to grabbing 50 points, 14 rebounds and eight steals in just two games last week. He also shot 12-of-18 from the free throw line.
