Central Mountain in 2nd place heading into Day 2 of Regionals

ALTOONA – Bald Eagle Area and Central Mountain both advanced four wrestlers into today’s semifinals of today’s PIAA Northwest AAA wrestling regionals Friday night at the Altoona Fieldhouse.

Undefeated Bald Eagle senior Seth Koleno advanced with a fall in 4:40 in the quarterfinals after receiving a bye in the first round at 138 pounds. Senior Garrett Rigg also advanced with a fall in 5:03 at 145 pounds. Sophomore Gage McClenahan won by fall twice at 152 pounds, in 35 seconds in the first round and 2:56, and Dylan Bisel continued the wave of pins with falls in 24 seconds in the first round and 3:39 in the quarterfinals at 182 pounds.

Central Mountain’s Johnathan Shreffler at 113 pounds, Seth Andrus at 132 pounds, Logan Long at 145 pounds and Jacob Edwards at 285 pounds also advanced to today’s semifinals.

A win in the semifinals would guarantee any of the eight area wrestlers a spot in the PIAA state tournament in Hershey, as the top three advance in each weight class.

Consolation rounds begin at 10 a.m. Today, and the semifinals begin at 12:30 p.m. The finals are scheduled to begin at 6:15p.m
