LHU’s Coakley, Taylor earn All-Region honors

NEW ORLEANS – Seniors Mitchell Coakley (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Matt Taylor (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hagerstown C.C.) of the Lock Haven University men’s outdoor track & field team have earned All-Region honors as both earned a spot on the 2018 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Atlantic Region Team.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions’ top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the indoor track & field season.

The Atlantic Region includes schools and student-athletes from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), Mountain East Conference (MEC) and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

Coakley earned All-Region honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Taylor ran to All-Region status in the 10,000-meter run. Both narrowly missed NCAA provisional marks this season in their respective All-Region event.

Coakely was second in the steeplechase at the PSAC Championships and ran to a season-best mark of 9:18.37 in late April at the Penn Relays.

Taylor hit a season-best in the 10K at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic in mid-April. He clocked a time of 31:35.90.
