Lydia Wert wins gold at 49th annual Special Olympics
Lydia Wert of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, smiles broadly as she receives her gold medal at the 49th annual Special Olympics Summer Games at Penn State University. Lydia swam the 25 yard freestyle in 15.6 seconds, beating her own personal time by .1 second. She competed in two other events at the Pennsylvania Summer Games, placing first and second and will compete in July for Team Pennsylvania at the Special Olympics National Competition in Seattle, Washington. Lydia is the daughter of Keith and Wendy (Foust) Wert, formerly of Lock Haven. She is a granddaughter of Richard and Phyllis Wert and Mike and Sue Foust.
