Woolrich All-Stars lose, 15-7, despite out-hitting Montgomery

WOOLRICH — Woolrich Little League 10-12 All-Stars watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 15-7 loss to Montgomery on Sunday.

Montgomery scored early on an error during Caden Fink’s at bat, singles by Jaylen Andrews and Conner Puderbach in the first inning, and a walk in the second inning. Ultimately, Montgomery rounded out the third inning with eleven runs.

Woolrich answered in the third inning with six runs. Luke Bowman and Mason Zell both smacked singles after Woolrich’s first batter walked. Chase Beard, the innings fifth batter, knocked a double and Jerome Yost followed with a long-ball homerun. Woolrich scored one more run in the fourth inning, but couldn’t hold off four more runs from Montgomery in the last two innings.

Luke Bowman led things off on the mound for Woolrich. He allowed six hits and eleven runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Gavin Bower and Andrew Brown entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and one-third of an inning respectively. Joe Caimi caught for Woolrich.

Gavin Moore toed the rubber for Montgomery. He allowed six hits and five runs over two innings, strinking out two. Caden Fink and Parker Bennett rounded out the bullpen players while Bryce Burkhart caught.

Woolrich battles Williamsport on Tuesday in Newberry.
