LHU headed to Army’s Black Knight Invitational

LOCK HAVEN — The No. 16 Lock Haven University wrestling team is headed back on the road to compete in Sunday’s (Nov. 18) Black Knight Invite, hosted by Army West Point. It will mark the Bald Eagles second straight season competing at the Black Knight Invite.

LHU NEWS, NOTES & STORYLINES:

-On Monday (Nov. 12), Chance Marsteller was named this week’s Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Athlete of the Week … He went 3-0 last weekend in his season debut at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic and claimed the 165-pound A bracket.

-Marsteller (165) is one of three nationally-ranked individuals this week for Lock Haven … Both Alex Klucker (157) and Thomas Haines (285) remain nationally-ranked this week.

-The nationally-ranked trio will be action on Sunday at Army.

-Marsteller was one of four LHU individual champions at last weekend’s (Nov. 11) Journeymen Collegiate Classic … DJ Fehlman (141C), Brock Port (149D) and Parker McClellan (197D) all won their respective pools.

-DJ Fehlman (133/141), Kyle Shoop (141), Alex Klucker (157), Chance Marsteller (165), Corey Hazel (184) and Thomas Haines (285) are all returning national qualifiers.

-Last year, Marsteller won a school-record 44 matches and finished as an All-American (fourth).

-Shoop has 27 career tech falls just one away from the No. 2 spot on the Bald Eagles career list. The school record is 32, as Shoop – the nation’s DI leader in tech falls last season – will look to break that mark this year.

The Bald Eagles are No. 16 in the InterMat Dual Rankings and No. 21 in the InterMat Team Rankings. LHU was listed at No. 19 in this week’s National Wrestling Coaches’ Association (NWCA) Division I Coaches’ National Poll.
