LHU Women’s Basketball set for home opener

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team will host the Pitt-Bradford Panthers in their home opener on Wednesday (November 14th) at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Fieldhouse.

Over the weekend, the team travelled to West Virginia for the MEC/PSAC Challenge hosted by Fairmont State. The Haven went one and one winning against Concord University and dropping a tightly fought game to hosts Fairmont State.

Lock Haven received a strong performance on Friday night against Concord when Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) went off for 18 points. Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata) scored 13 points while adding 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The game went back and forth all night until a late run including a clutch three pointer from Shelton-Burleigh sealed a 73-66 win.

On Saturday, Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Redland) and Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) each scored 17 points in a close loss to Fairmont. Devine went 5-12 from beyond the arc and secured five rebounds, while Redman added six rebounds and two steals to her day.

Lock Haven looks to defend their home court against the visiting Panthers and build upon last season’s home success in which all of the Bald Eagles wins came at the Thomas Fieldhouse. Marking last season’s home performance was an 86-84 thrilling upset over eventual PSAC runner-up Millersville.
