Central Mountain Lady Wildcats lose at home to Tyrone, 62-38
FROM STAFF REPORTS
MILL HALL- The Central Mountain Wildcats were dropped at home by the Tyrone Golden Eagles, 62-38, Monday night.
Avery Baker led the Wildcats with a game-high 13 points. Quinlynn McCann added another 11.
“Avery was very aggressive with looking to get to the basket, which is a step up because it’s something we’ve been stressing to our guards,” CM coach Scott Baker said. “We want them to drive to the basket, and she did that.”
Central Mountain’s offense struggled early on. They fell behind 24-6 after the first quarter, before trailing 37-12 entering intermission.
“I thought that early on we really struggled getting into our offense,” Baker said. “They were pressuring us and we had a difficult time dealing with it.”
CM bounced back in the second half. They out-scored Tyrone 26-25 after intermission. The Wildcats elevated their intensity in the final two quarters–and it showed with their increased free-throw attempts.
“Morgan Wetzel was much more aggressive,” Baker explained. “And in the process of doing that she got to the foul line often. She shot six free throws the second half.
“They were all more aggressive as the game moved on. They got a little more confident, and that’s something we want to continue as the season moves on.”
