Chicago Bears’ kicking unit has declined since Robbie Gould’s release
FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Chicago Bears’ field goal unit has deteriorated since Robbie Gould’s release prior to the 2016 season, and the numbers vividly display Chicago’s decline.
Since Gould’s departure from the organization he has converted 82-of-85 field goal attempts, which is a league-best. In that same span Chicago kickers have combined to hit just 60-of-79 field goal attempts, which is the worst mark in the NFL over the last three seasons.
Gould, whose 87.74 field goal percentage is second in league history, was in attendance for Chicago’s missed field goal attempt Sunday in the NFC Wild Card Game versus the Eagles. The missed field goal ended Chicago’s season.
