The Loyalsock Lancers, at 8-1, hosted the Central Mountain Wildcats who were coming off their first win of the season before falling back into the loss column with a 76-37 loss Monday evening in Loyalsock Township.

After Loyalsock head coach Ron (C.I.) Insinger called a timeout midway through the first, the Lancers erupted en route to a 32-0 lead to end the first quarter.

At the end of the first Loyalsock was 13-14 from the field with the lone miss being a tough contested shot in the paint by Connor Watkins.

Senior Collin Jones was the bright spot for the Wildcats on the night, dropping 17 points but rimming out on multiple shots that looked like they should’ve gotten a friendly roll at times.

Loyalsock, with four senior starters, went to their bench earlier than usual in the game allowing junior Aiden Gair to play with the next wave of Lancer basketball. “It helps tremendously. They’ve gotta get used to bringing the ball up against bigger guys. Dane rebounded great so did Siraj. They played amazing,” Gair said following the win.

Loyalsock’s lone eight-point loss to Danville earlier this season was the only comparable game between the two teams as Central Mountain hung around and only lost to Danville by 10. Last night it just worked on all cylinders for the Lancers who came prepared to play regardless of records on paper.

The Lancers and Wildcats are back in action tonight as Loyalsock hosts Central Columbia and Central Mountain travels to Selinsgrove, both at 7:30.
