Bellefonte escapes nailbiter with 64-62 win against Jersey Shore


The Bellefonte boys basketball team traveled to Jersey Shore and escaped with a 64-62 win against the Bulldogs.

In back-and-forth action the Bulldogs controlled a 48-45 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Bellefonte responded with its best offensive effort in the fourth.

The Red Raiders scored a team-high 19 points in the final period to come back and defeat Jersey Shore, 64-62.

The difference maker was free-throw shooting. Bellefonte recorded eight foul shots in the fourth while Jersey Shore recorded zero.

Caleb Rockey had a Raider-high 20 points, and Nate Tice added 13. Noah Badger and Nick Fisher rounded out Bellefonte’s double-digit scorers with 11 each.

Bulldog Nate Ewing had a team-high 27 points. Teammate Tanner Lorson nearly posted a triple double as he tallied 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 points.

Jersey Shore returns tomorrow night in an away matchup against Central Mountain. Bellefonte is back tomorrow in an away matchup against Bald Eagle Area.
