LHU Women’s Track:

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Lock Haven University women’s outdoor track & field team wrapped up its season opening weekend with a strong effort Saturday, the third and final day at the 2019 Alan Connie Shamrock Invite in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Leading the way Saturday for the LHU women was Cadie Kiser (Chambersburg Pa./Chambersburg) and Karina Long (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin).

Kiser, a distance-standout for LHU, finished fourth in the mile with a sensational time of 5:18.27. On Thursday night, she was second in the 10,000-meter run, as she finished alongside teammate – and winner – Laurel Moyer (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain). Saturday’s effort in the mile capped a strong weekend for Kiser, as she opened the outdoor season after a remarkable indoor campaign.

Long, the Bald Eagles rookie leader in the jumping events, leaped to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying mark in the triple jump today. Her mark of 36-02.75 was good enough for fifth overall. Friday, she was second in the long jump with a PSAC mark of 18-02.50, one of the top-10 marks in school history.
