Keystone Intermediates eliminated from Eastern Regional

The Keystone Intermediate squad fell to Connecticut, 11-10, in nine innings during early Sunday afternoon. The loss eliminated the Intermediates from the Eastern Regional Tournament.
Brady Myers was Keystone’s starting pitcher. He allowed eight runs, scattered five hits but threw 11 strikeouts in five innings. Elek Fravel pitched 3 1/3 innings, and managed to fan three batters.
Keystone totaled 12 hits in the game. Fravel, Myers and Gardner Fravel each supplied multiple hits in the game. Connor Foltz also added a two-run home run.
Keystone built an 8-4 lead entering the bottom of the fourth until Connecticut tied the game at eight runs apiece.
Elek Fravel severed the tie when he blasted a solo home run in the top of the eighth to hand Keystone the lead, 9-8. But Connecticut responded with a score in the bottom of the inning to knot the game at 9-9.
Gardner Fravel drove in Brady Myers in the ninth to reclaim the lead for Keystone 10-9.
But Connecticut responded in the back half of the inning. Colin O’Leary smacked a two-run single to win the game, 11-10.
The loss ended Keystone’s season. They finished the 2019 season as the District 12, Section 3 and Pennsylvania State champions.
