WINGATE – Coming off a strong showing at this past weekend’s Bulldog Volleyball Invitational, the Eagles continued its high level of play, defeating a young Penns Valley team Tuesday 25-9, 25-8 and 25-18.

Kill leaders for Bald Eagle were Grace Hugar(6), Madison Perry (5) and Brynn Bisel (5).

Claire Andrew and Katelyn Smitchko had one block each.

Lexi Skripek tallied 16 digs while teammates Sydney Hill and Bisel has seven each.

Rockey and Eckley both had 14 assists in the win.

It was a night where the Rams would battle to the very end while the Eagles were able to get some of their younger players some valuable playing time.

In the first contest, the Eagles started out sizzling from the serving line. After trailing 1-0, Madison Rockey rolled off 10 consecutive service points to build up an 11-1 advantage.

Picking up the first service point for the Rams was Jadyn Butler.

After forcing a side out, the Rams got its second service points from the hand of Anna Butler.

From there, Bald Eagle added to its lead as they out-scored the Rams 14-7 the rest of the way, winning 25-9.

“We came out ready to play tonight. We are trying to add some stuff to our offense to give us a different look,” said Bald Eagle coach Lawrence Campbell. “It was a little ugly but a couple of things we connected on. We’ll work on that. By the end of the season it’s our goal to have it in.”

In the second game, the Eagles were able to start substituting their starters out but it didn’t matter as Bald Eagle got even more hotter as the home team used a 9-point scoring run by Taylor Kilmer en route to the 25-8 victory.

Penns Valley battled to the bitter end and left everything out on the court, finishing the last contest by scoring 18 in the loss.

“I’m very proud of the effort they put out tonight,” said Penns Valley Coach Jayme Ishler said. “We have a very young team and we are definitely rebuilding. But they work hard and they hustle. They are very scrappy. I’m proud of them.”
