Two killed in I-80 crash; road still closed
Two tractor trailer truck drivers were killed in a six-vehicle pile-up early this morning on Interstate 80 between the Lamar and Bellefonte exits, state police at Rockview report. The names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Four other drivers were injured, none seriously, police said.
The crash occurred at 12:45 a.m. today and the eastbound lanes were still closed to traffic at this writing. Police said they were hoping to reopen the road by 5 p.m today.
Police said a tractor trailer slid off the snow and ice-covered highway and became disabled partially on the road, resulting in a chain-reaction type collision involving the five other vehicles.
