Man awaiting trial trys to kill witness, victim

CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) — A man awaiting trial on charges including rape and statutory sexual assault is now accused of trying to arrange the murders of a witness and an alleged victim from prison.

The Cumberland County district attorney’s office alleges that 41-year-old Anthony Rizzo of Carlisle offered money to another person between Sept. 8 and Saturday.

PennLive.com reports that Detective Jonathan Mays alleges that the offer was made to another inmate who was told where the targets could be found and Rizzo allegedly “offered suggestions on how they should be killed.”

Rizzo, charged earlier with rape and sexual assault in one case and conspiracy to obstruct justice in anther, now faces charges of criminal solicitation to commit first-degree murder and retaliation. His attorney declined comment Monday.
