MONTGOMERY — American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Department of Pennsylvania members of the Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Counties Council meeting was hosted by Montgomery American Legion Auxiliary Unit #251 on Sept. 15. Dori Rankinen was a guest who represented and shared information about Central PA’s Wreaths Across American (WAA) — a not for profit organization that began in 1992 to thank one million veterans. Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Heading into their 29th year and over 2.2 million Wreaths later, the nation’s heroes continue to be honored from the snow banks of Alaska to the sands of Iraq on Dec. 18, 2021. For more information, one may contact Dori at 570-772-2324 or www.centralpawaa.weebly.com.

Another special guest at the Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Council meeting was Department of Pennsylvania’s President, Patricia Carnes, who shared information of the programs and projects that ALA members participate in of “Service Not Self” for veterans, troops, their families and our communities.

Carnes’s special projects this year are for the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors and their families and funds to benefit veterans who are hospitalized throughout Pennsylvania’s Veterans’ facilities.

The next Centre, Lycoming and Clinton Council meeting will be hosted by Lock Haven’s American Legion Auxiliary Unit #131. It will be held on Nov. 10 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington with a Memorial Service being held for deceased ALA members this past year. Special guest will be ALA Department of Pennsylvania’s Central Vice President, Tracie Seiders.

ALA Unit members are to call ALA Unit #131’s President, Denise Haight, at 570-502-2929 to make reservations for this council meeting.
