Mini-THON 2020

Central Mountain Middle School was unfortunately unable to hold the annual Mini-THON event to support the Four Diamonds Foundation, due to the unfortunate Coronavirus Pandemic. The Four Diamonds Foundation is an organization that helps raise money for childhood cancer. This was slated to be the 5th year for the CMMS Mini-THON.

This year, without the actual live Mini-THON event in May, Central Mountain Middle School managed to raise $6,330 that the school will donate to the Four Diamonds Foundation. $2,370 of the $6,330 is from the donor drive which is the online donation platform that the students use to raise money. Business donations for the year included $3,960. CMMS wants to thank the following businesses for their donations: Avery Dennison, Beiter’s Home Center, Bittner’s Taxidermy, Central Storage, Croda Inc., Collision Center, Davis Insurance Agency, Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Feger Insurance Agency, Forty & Eight Chateau, Hawksworth Trucking, Dr. Jeffrey Raymond, Kessinger’s Garage, Kliney Home Furnishing Center, Lugg and Coleman Building Contractors, M&R Contracting, Murry Motors, PA Masonry, Pine Mountain Dental, Pizza City, Roe-Ada Well Support, Susquehanna Eye Associates, Susquehanna Trailways, Wal-Mart, Woodland’s Bank, Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC, and Don’s Garage. These local businesses support the CMMS Mini-THON year after year and students and staff are very grateful for their donations.

The CMMS Mini-THON committee created a t-shirt to represent this year’s Mini-THON “Quarantine Struggle”. T-shirts were sold to staff at CMMS. Student committee members were also given a shirt.

The school normally has anywhere from 150-200 students attend the yearly Mini-THON event in the spring. This event begins in the afternoon and continues into the evening. Students stay after school and participate in various activities throughout the evening that continue to raise money for Four Diamonds. The last portion of the event is opened up to the public. A grand total of the event is announced at the end of the Mini-THON event each year.

At the 2019 Mini-THON CMMS raised over $37,000 and this year the goal was to top that amount. Unfortunately the goal of over $37,000 was not hit but CMMS is still proud to be able to donate to Four Diamonds to help find a cure for childhood cancer!
