LOCK HAVEN — The John Stevens Polka band will perform this Friday, July 3 at Triangle Park, for the Lock Haven Summer Concert Series. The concert will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Those interested in attending the free concert are invited to bring their own chair.
The John Stevens Polka band formed in January 1995. A young and energetic band releasing their first cassette “Doubleshot Preview” in March 1995. Then in 1996 the band released their first full recording “Come On Let’s Dance” on cassette and compact disc. This recording opened many doors for the band.
After taking off for a year, the band regrouped in 1997 and began recording and playing numerous jobs along the east coast and as far west as Wisconsin. In 1997, the song “Everyone’s Having Fun” was named number one tune of the year on Jolly St. Nick’s Polka Revolution show heard over WPHB 1260AM in Houtzdale, Pa.
The band has been on numerous Television shows including: Pennsylvania Polka (WVIA TV), The Jolly Joe Timmer Show (RCN CABLE), Let’s Polka (WSKG TV) and The Bethlehem Musikfest (Service Electric Cable). The band has also performed on two Polka Cruises and released 18 CDs.
The public is invited to attend this free summer concert. While this year’s Friday night concerts are scheduled be held at Grove and Main Streets, due to the Fourth of July holiday, this is the only concert that will be held at Triangle Park. Due to restrictions from the Green Phase, there will be no rain location for the concert.
