CATArt poster contest winners announced

STATE COLLEGE — CATA launched its second annual CATArt Poster Contest in September, as a means of encouraging local students to consider the impact transit has on their communities.

This year’s theme was “Postcards from CATA” — students were asked to imagine they were sitting on a bus and looking out the window as their community passes, and to draw what they see. The contest, open to area elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade, resulted in approximately 800 submissions from the State College, Bellefonte, Our Lady of Victory schools and additional individual students.

CATA recently announced the following contest winners: Avenir Berezhnoy, kindergarten, Centre County Christian Academy; Nataliya Woskob, first grade Woods Elementary School; Stella Maslov, second grade, Centre County Christian Academy; Aaron Stewart, third grade, Marion-Walker Elementary School; Lucia Harte, fourth grade, Grays Woods Elementary School; Alyssa Berezhnoy, fifth grade, Centre County Christian Academy.

These students will have their artwork displayed on a full bus wrap, which has been put into use this month, plus receive a great prize package including generous donations from local businesses including: College 9, Dairy Queen, Discovery Space, Get Air, IHOP, Northland Bowl and Quaker Steak and Lube.

An additional winner was selected to have their artwork featured on the Spring 2020 Ride Guide cover and recieve a prize package: Mason Evans, first grade, Park Forest Elementary School.

All winning artwork can be viewed on CATA’s website at www.catabus.com/catart.

CATA thanks everyone who participated in this year’s contest, and looks forward to another next year.
