Local law firm receives Business Partnership Award
WILLIAMSPORT — The Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently presented its annual Business Partnership of the Year award to the Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak elder law firm.
This annual award, initiated in 2014-15, is presented to an organization that helps promote FBLA activities, contributes to FBLA projects and activities, provides financial assistance to an FBLA local, state or national chapter, helps judge FBLA competitions, and has its own noteable achievements in business and industry while also being involved in civic engagement.
The Business Partnership of the Year honor is presented each spring along with several other awards by the PA FBLA chapter at an award banquet, which was held virtually this year on May 15.
Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak was nominated for this award by the Jersey Shore FBLA chapter for its consistent strong partnership and support for the chapter over the last several years. Among the many things that SGY has assisted the chapter with include advertising for a food drive, making a monetary donation to the food drive from dress down days at the firm, giving guidance on writing news releases and assisting with contacting media outlets to effectively spread the word about their community service projects, and contributing donations to help offset the cost of Jersey Shore students attending the FBLA national conference. SGY has also provided co-op positions for active chapter members at the law firm for the last two years, as well as summer internship opportunities.
The firm also offers job shadowing opportunities to both the students in the Jersey Shore chapter, as well as the entire region of the PA FBLA, which encompasses over 800 students. Further, the firm’s founder, Julie Steinbacher, served as the keynote speaker for this year’s FBLA Regional Leadership Conference, where she encouraged students to seek out their passions and try new experiences. The firm also sponsored motivational speaker and Because I said I Would founder Alex Sheen speaking to the student body at both Jersey Shore Area High School and Middle School.
This is the latest of several honors that have been bestowed upon SGY recently. It was named one of the Best Law Firms in Pennsylvania by U.S. News & World Report in 2018. It was also named a Top 50 Women-Owned Business to Follow by Marcellus Business Central in 2017, and a Top 100 Organization numerous times by Pennsylvania Business Central.
“It has been my honor to help support the Jersey Shore PA FBLA Chapter in a variety of ways throughout the years,” said Steinbacher. “The FBLA organization and its many chapters throughout the country are great resources that help students learn about the basics of business and business principles and helps give students a great start on their future careers in business. I greatly appreciate the Jersey Shore chapter nominating the firm for this honor.”
