Zeropoint Big Band will perform tomorrow beginning at 8 p.m. in Price Auditorium at Lock Haven University. The concert is free. The 16-piece big band is comprised of leading jazz musicians in Central Pennsylvania.

Kent’s Concert

Members’ Meeting

The Clinton County Special Olympics is seeking supoprt from the local community. It receives no local, state, or federal funding, which is why it needs your help, according to organizers. Any donations, large or small, will help, and 100 percent of donations collected will be used in Clinton County to support the athletes. Donations are tax-deductible. Porter Township has several events scheduled for its 175th anniversary celebration, including an opening ceremony, hymn sing, firemen’s parade and festival, farm tours and home and business tours. Food Pantry update

The New Love Center Food Pantry appreciates the donations received from local churches. In July the center served 305 families, representing 754 people in the Linden, Jersey Shore, Woolrich, Avis and McElhattan area. Distributions are the second and fourth Fridays of each month from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. at St. John Lutheran, 229 S. Broad St. The food pantry needs saltine crackers, regular-size jars of jelly, and cake mixes for the month of September. They can be dropped off at St. John Lutheran Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. For information and pickup arrangements, call 570-916-1317.

Backpacks & fun

Lamar United Methodist Church will give away school backpacks and clothing to any student in need of a backpack, from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. An outdoor children’s carnival will be held during the give-away with free popcorn, face-painting, puppet shows, games. Donations are appreciated of new or used backpacks in good shape.
