Central Mountain hosts Tournament of Bands competition

MILL HALL – The Central Mountain High School Marching Band hosted its first Tournament of Bands outdoor competition in more than 10 years.

The Susquehanna Valley Region 4 Tournament of Bands competition was held Sept. 8 at Don Malinak Stadium at CMHS and featured the Central Mountain, Berwick Area, Jersey Shore Area, and Williamson High School Marching Bands.

Despite a soggy day, the bands gave it their best.

This competition involves different classes according to member size and skill level.

Jersey Shore Area competed in the 2-A Class, achieving first place.

Central Mountain in the 1-Festival class and achieved a rating of silver.

Bands are scored on visual and musical achievements, along with overall general affect.

This year, Central Mountain’s theme is “It’s the 80s,” with musical selections such as “Take On Me,” “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Africa.”

Tournament host organization was the Keystone Central Field and Floor Booster Club.
