LH Music Club gives awards of merit
The Lock Haven affiliate of the National Federation of Music Clubs presented awards of merit in 1990. Lucy McLaughlin, seated at right, represented the club. She is presenting an awared to Harriet “Snookie” “Inez” Williams, who was a local musician that played violin until age 70 and continued to play cello until she was 91 years old. She played for the Lock Haven Orchestra under D. Linch and the Nittany Valley Symphony under director Michael Jimbo. The woman in the center has been identified as Jane Hutchinson. There has yet to be confirmation on whether or not the woman standing next to Charlie Ryan, then-publisher of The Express community newspaper, is Beth Vuocolo. We thank Donna Dorey, Ruth Berry and Harriet’s son David Williams for providing us with additional information.
