Recognizing Mike Hanna for a job well done

SARAH SMELTZ/THE EXPRESS

The Clinton County Commissioners recognized retiring State Rep. Michael K. Hanna Sr., at their regular meeting last Thursday. Hanna has spent the last 28 years representing the 76th District in the state House of Representatives and is retiring at the end of this year. The commissioners presented Hanna with a Proclamation of Excellence from the three commissioners. He served as minority Whip in the House from 2011 to November 2018 and also served as chairman of the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. His list of accomplishments over the years is lengthy and includes spearheading legislation to provide state allocations to local government and school districts through payments in lieu of taxes. He has always been an advocate for improving recreational opportunities, especially in the state forest, and as a hunter and fisherman, for clean water and acid mine drainage reclamation projects leading to improved fish and aquatic life habitat in western Clinton County. Hanna was also successful in reaching across party lines to obtain funding support for various Clinton County projects, according to the proclamation.
