BAHS students learn about fossils

About 35 students from Advanced Placement biology class at Bellefonte Area High School had the chance to visit the site where the first tetrapod was discovered in North America – Hyner, approximately 45 miles north of Bellefonte in Clinton County. Teacher Chris Freidhoff said the discovery was outlined in the book, “Your Inner Fish,” which was assigned to students to read last summer. When his class first arrived on location, they met with paleontologist Doug Rowe, an expert on the Devonian period spanning as far back as 419.2 million years ago.
