Walnut Street Lady Warriors win at home 37-16

JERSEY SHORE — In the final game of the regular season, Walnut Street Christian School Lady Warriors played host to Immanuel Christian School of Hazelton Lady Lions at the Jersey Shore YMCA.

This was a first time meeting between the two schools.

As the Lady Warriors took the floor with the two seniors –Kaela Howell and Amelia Smith –leading the charge for their last home appearance for the school, they went on an offensive attack and never looked back, taking an early lead of 10-0 in the first period.

They continued their offense in the second adding an additional 19 to the score.

The Lady Lions made an effort to gain some ground putting up 10 points bringing the score at intermission to 29-10.

The Lady Warriors took advantage of the opportunity and utilized some underclassmen substitutions for experience. At the end of three, the Warriors added 4 more points and held the Lions scoreless.

Continuing in the fourth period, the Warriors added another 4 to their total as the Lions put 6 points through the net.

The Lady Warriors finished their regular season game play with a victory of 37-16 bringing their regular season record to 12 – 7 – 0.

Scoring in the contest was led by Amelia Smith (12); Mackenzie Conklin (10); Kaela Howell (4); Sydney Redmon (4); Alyson Zell (2); Jaralyn Croak (2); Gracey Holter (2); Sophia Rinker (1).

Next contest is the KCEA tournament held in West Chester, when the Lady Warriors will take on the Canaan Christian Academy at 3 p.m. on March 1.
