Clinton County SPCA to host Wags & Whiskers benefit

LOCK HAVEN — The Clinton County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CCSPCA) is holding its Wags and Whiskers Benefit on Sunday, March 24.

The dinner auction event, held every other year, will be at the Elks Lodge in downtown Lock Haven with cocktails and the silent auction beginning at 4 p.m. and the buffet dinner at 6 p.m.

One of the largest fundraisers for the non-profit shelter, the CCSPCA will host a silent auction with items from local and national vendors and establishments. Recognition of CCSPCA alumni along with adoption and outreach highlights are planned within the event programming, emceed by Mark Helbley.

According to CCSPCA Board President Mary Jo Williamson, funds raised from the Wags & Whiskers event are vitally important to the organization’s ability to continue to serve the Clinton County community.

“Raising money and support through this event is essential to providing medical care and temporary homes to all the animals who find their way into the shelter,” Williamson said. “It also allows the CCSPCA to provide other services to residents of Clinton County through programs like Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) Community Cat project, which aims to help control the stray and feral cat populations throughout the county, the Spay Day voucher program, and the tremendous amount of outreach and services provided by the county’s Humane Society Police Officer, Kevin Cierpilowski.”

The CCSPCA is continuing to reach out to both individuals and businesses for items that will bring in big dollars at the event. The Wags and Whiskers planning committee asks anyone interested in donating an item to contact the shelter as soon as possible.

“The CCSPCA is so grateful for the response from local individuals and businesses, and hopes to welcome even more to get involved,” continued Williamson. “These efforts fully support the important mission of the shelter.”

For those wishing to attend the event, tickets are $30 each and can be pre-purchased by contacting the CCSPCA at 570-748-4756, or stopping by the shelter at 33 Mill Hill Rd., Lock Haven.
