Walk For Suicide Awareness

LOCK HAVEN — The Cimarron Thomas Memorial Walk for suicide prevention is planned at Riverview Park on July 6, beginning at 9 a.m.

The event, in remembrance of Cirarron Elise Thomas, is an effort to bring awareness to suicide, according to organizers.

There will information booths, music and more.

People of all ages are welcome.

Four local fire companies

receive grant funding

HARRISBURG — A total of four local fire companies will receive grant funding, Rep. Garth Everett (R-Lycoming/Union) announced on Tuesday.

The following fire companies are: Black Forest Fire Company ($11,512.73), Citizens Hose Company of Jersey Shore, EMS ($7,155.22), Citizens Hose Company of Jersey Shore ($14,811.36) and Nippenose Valley Volunteer Fire Company ($12,832.18).

The grants are funded through state gaming proceeds and applications are still open until the end of May.

“We rely on the incredible men and women of our local fire companies and EMS providers to keep our families safe,” Everett said. “I’m thankful to see so many of them in Lycoming and Union counties be supported by this program.”
