Fifth grader helps local family

KCSD PHOTO Eva Sockman, 5th grade student of Renovo Elementary poses with a check she delivered the Clinton County SPCA.

Renovo — Mrs. Terry Markle’s enrichment classes at Renovo Elementary were reading about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the impact he had on our history. Markle challenged her students to create a Day of Caring Project that would help those in need in their community or school. Students had to write a plan of action and then they had the opportunity to put their plans into action. Eva Sockman, a 5th grade student at Renovo Elementary organized and held a bake sale at the school on April 11th and 12th. With the help of Eva’s family, friends, faculty, and her teacher, Mrs. Markle, she raised $277.00. Sockman donated half of the contributions to the Clinton County SPCA and the other half to the Houser Family, a local family who lost everything in a recent fire.
