Centre County to host conversation about mental health

BELLEFONTE –The Centre County Board of Commissioners is inviting the public to a “Community Conversation about Mental Health Services in Centre County” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 on the third floor of the courthouse annex, located at 106 E. High St. in Bellefonte.
The evening will begin with a presentation from staff of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse and the County’s Office of Mental Health.
They will provide an overview of state law, regulations and policies governing mental health services in the Commonwealth and outline how counties implement these mandates. Additionally, Centre County staff will describe the service delivery system in Centre County and present an overview of services currently available.
Following these presentations, the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and to engage in dialogue about mental health services offered in Centre County.
The Board of Commissioners will be asking the public for suggestions on how to enhance the current system. They ask that the public invites colleagues, neighbors and community members to the conversation.
