Centre Crest residents to release butterflies on Saturday

BELLEFONTE– The popular butterfly release event will be held to officially kick off summer at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 at Centre Crest, 502 E Howard St. in Bellefonte.

Every resident will release a butterfly into facility’s Kline Way Garden. Family and community members are encouraged to attend. Additionally, there will be music by local musician and longtime volunteer John Thompson and educational demonstrations by a Penn State master gardener about the lifecycle of the butterfly.

The ceremony and fundraiser has been part of summer celebrations at Centre Crest since 2008 and is one of the most well-attended and anticipated events throughout the year.

Attendees can purchase and name a butterfly in honor of or in memory of a loved one for a $10 donation. All donations go toward keeping of the garden maintained for the residents to enjoy.

The event is organized by the volunteers of the Centre Crest Auxiliary.
