Friendship Community Library hosts summer events

BEECH CREEK — Summer may be damp and humid outside, but it’s nice and cool in the Friendship Community Library. The library is hosting a variety of summer reading activities for kids of all ages.

r Lego Robot Camp– Learn basic computer programming as you make a robot do your bidding. This camp is for ages 8-12 on July 8, 9, 11, 15, 16 and 18, from 3-4:30 p.m. Registration is required. Call the Ross Library Children’s Department at 570-748-3484 to register.

r Story and a Craft — Cool off with a different story and activity. Open to all ages, June 27, July 25 at 3 p.m.

r Chess Club–Learn the game of chess. For beginners, in a fun, casual environment, June 25, July 23 & 30 from 5-7 p.m. Walk-ins welcome.

LHU to host

chemistry camp, ‘Molecules

That Make Scents’

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven University Chemistry Department will host a chemistry camp, “Molecules That Make Scents,” from Sunday, July 21 through Thursday, July 25 for students in grades 10-12 who have completed high school chemistry.

The camp is taught by LHU chemistry faculty and attendees will learn about molecular modeling, computational chemistry, scientific instrumentation, laboratory techniques, spectroscopy and more, as well as get a glimpse into what life is like as a college chemistry student.

Attendees will stay in the Fairview Suites student housing on campus during the camp and evening recreational activities will be provided. The cost of the camp is $500 per student and registration is required by Friday, June 28.
